Molly O’Steen

Molly O’Steen is a film and theater historian and educator based in New York City and Connecticut. Her wide-ranging experience allows her to intertwine research, storytelling, and pedagogy, providing a fresh perspective on the impact of the arts in media and culture. 

O’Steen’s area of expertise includes film editing along with a deep knowledge of cinema, focusing on the golden age, the revolutionary films of the 1960s and 1970s, and queer film. She currently works as a historian and moderator in collaboration with the American Cinema Editors Guild and Metrograph Theater to host sold-out events that engage all audiences in the history of filmmaking.

Molly was previously a teacher and director at the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theater. Currently, she is the Founder and CEO of Fair Playhouse NYC, a theater arts school focused on staffing a community of teaching artists and helping students create original works and performances, developing the next generation of great film and theater artists.  

Molly O'Steen is an entrepreneurial leader with a strong foundation in theater, film, and education. She specializes in event curation,  program development,  writing about film & theatre, and fostering community engagement.
